I purchased this bow for a few friends of mine who wanted to get into archery. I have been shooting target archery for over 20 years and all of my bows have been Bear bows. I got this bow because of all the features and for the good price. Little did I know that you will get what you pay for.

The cable guide rod was the first to go. There is so much tension placed on the rod that it kept on popping off from the bow. The cables are situated in such a way that you cannot fire it without it. I tried gluing the rod in the hole of the riser, but nothing would hold. I finally had to drill the riser & place a set screw to hold it in place.

The next problem was more surprising. I attempted to take a shot but before I could get it to full draw, the riser broke in two just above the arrow shelf. BAM! Mind you, this was the second time at the range & thank God it didn't happen while my friends were shooting it. The first time at the range we had absolutely no problems.

I am going to report these defects to Bear Archery and see what they offer to do in terms of replacement.

I TRIED TO SET THIS BOW UP FOR MY GRANDSON BUT THE ARROW REST HOLE WAS TO LARGE FOR A NORMAL ARROW REST. AND THE POUNDAGE WOULD ONLY GO TO 24#. AFTER MODIFYING THE BOW AND HAD IT ABOUT SETUP, EVERY THIRD OR FOURTH SHOT THE CABLE GUIDE FELL OUT DURING THE SHOT. I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOW. ON THE BOW IT SAYS THIS IS NOT A TOY BUT IT WAS NOTHING BUT A TOY

Overall the bow is good but the arrow rest makes the thing useless. I made a shoot through rest to suit and it is quite accurate now.. The arrows are rubbish too (not even straight) but I do like the bow itself for my sons first bow. I did have trouble finding out if the bow adjusts down from the stated 30# which it does by undoing the limb bolts by no more than 4 turns, it will lower to about 15# or less. I fitted a peep sight , d loop and knock set which will allow him to use it and learn properly.
Dont buy if not able to make or buy a decent arrow rest and arrows. Mine didnt come with a manual but I got of web.
Good for the money except for the arrow rest, hope this helps.
We need a Cabelas in Australia!

Bought the bow for my son's 9th birthday. He loves to hunt and fish, and now shoots his bow all the time. The bow was what I thought perfect for him, because of the draw length and power. He has already shooting very well and may need an upgrade sooner than expected but the bow itself, is a great way to start. I did replace the arrows with some of mine and the bow did not come with a "whisker bisquit" it has a cheap on the side holder. It needs a real arrow rest after they learn to shoot.

Hi,
My son is 12 and good size for his age. We bought this bow for him and it is really a toy.
After 1 shot with this bow, we both decided it would barely hit the 20 yd target, could never be used for hunting.
Call it a kids; bow and it will meet expectation for kids up to 10 years old.
